My name is Pamela Steuart. I became an artist in 1965 (when I was born) and I grew up in Atlanta. I won a scholarship to the "Art Institute of Atlanta" in 1983 and have also studied at Georgia Southern College, Georgia State University and The Baton Rouge Fine Arts Academy. I have lived and sold my work all over the United States, but my commission work began while living in New Orleans when I met my friend and manager, Ann Laperouse (a person who inspires anyone who knows her). I am married to a wonderful art critic (that's not his profession), we have three sons (two are men and one is a baby). We currently make our home right outside of Washington, D.C.
I work almost exclusively in oil these days. For me, the essence of painting is about the paint, color and texture. The joy of putting it on or rubbing it off to create a feeling. Each of my paintings is an original, one of a kind. I do not make or sell prints of my work because I am motivated more by the piece and the client, than the money or the recognition. I love to know the people who own my paintings.
My favorite saying is "Are you really rich or do you just have a lot of money?" I love to paint for people who love art as much as I do and are therefore rich. I hope you're one of those people.
